Our Premiere Orlando Experience

So this year, all of us got the chance to attended the Premiere Orlando Event. Talk about amazing! Imagine the ENTIRE Orange County Convention Center filled with loud music, great smells, products for days, any hair accessories you could want, and only the BIGGEST names in the hair world…..and you’ve got Premiere Orlando! Not to mention some of the funkiest to most glamourous hair you’ve ever seen on the planet. While Premiere is definitely the place to stock up on products for the year, it first and foremost provides an incredible learning experience whether you’ve done hair for 20 years or 2. From color, to blow drys, to business, if you want to learn, it’s there for you. I would say”passion” is an understatement of the vibe you get from seeing thousands of people doing what they do and loving it. We all walked away with a colossal amount of new information ,techniques, and an even greater love for the work we all do. For this blog post we wanted to bring a little bit of our adventure to you, and let you hear first hand what our stylists got to be involved with.

Mary Lauren (Owner):

“Orlando was a great team experience for us. We had the opportunity to enjoy theme parks and share laughter together and grow in our profession as a unit here at Dare La Vita.Another benefit of a hair show like Orlando is the excitement it breeds amongst stylists. Seeing New techniques and products give refreshment to our creativity.

Classes were great! I took Product Club’s  “Highlighting Between the Lines” which taught balayage techniques and new tools that we ended up purchasing to perform different variances of balayage. I also took a few business related classes that dreaming about future salon spaces to expand our business as we grow. “Marketing Through Giving” was right up our ally because we desire to give back to our community and this class explained how to do this in a way that empowers local events and charities as well as protecting your business in the process.

It Factor blowout class was a great refresher on more than just your average blow out. We really want to give people an experience that exceeds their expectations and the finished result is a huge part of walking out the door feeling like a supermodel! Our most exciting news is the purchase of Pink Pewter hair accesories! They are unbelivably beautiful and versitle! We just couldn’t wait to get them into our salon!!”

Hannah (Master Stylist):

“I loved Premiere Orlando, and it was a great team experience for us all.  I loved being able to see all the new trends, and products that are coming throughout the next year. I am super excited to have Pink Pewter Headbands in the salon. These headbands stay in the same place all day, don’t give you a headache, and not to mention are SO cute! They are fabulous for everyone!

We also got to take a couple of classes including: Mens clipper cutting techniques, Blowouts and how to teach our clients at home styling, and different types of highlighting. I am pumped to use all of these new skills I have learned, and create awesome styles for all my clients!”

Amber (Protege Stylist):

Premiere Orlando couldn’t have been better!  I enjoyed experiencing skills classes, different product and color lines, as well as all the new trends. I was able to attend a marketing seminar, an It Factor blowout detailed instruction class, Johnny B’s clipper cutting class, a Brazilian blowout demonstration with their new Split End Mender, and my personal favorite the ‘Highlighting Between the Lines’ class where I learned new color techniques that are trending now.

Not to mention I also purchased an AMAZING pair of Kenchii shears and thinning shears! On our last day I got a picture with Robert Cromeans, who is one of the faces of Paul Mitchell, and so many other talented people in the hair industry. Did I mention I also went to DISNEY WORLD?!? I can’t wait for our next Premiere experience!”

Jill ( Apprentice) :

This was my first Premiere experience, and it was amazing!! There were so many exciting classes and products to try. As a newbie to the hair industry, it was a great opportunity for me to experience all things HAIR! It was a sensory overload of fun and learning, and I learned SO much.

The first day at the show I took a hands on French Cutting techniques class with Candy Shaw, who is one of the owners of Jamison Shaw in Atlanta, Ga. We learned to cut a short, sassy bob, using the French Cutting method. This was actually my first haircut…EVER. I learned so much, and it felt great to get that first cut done, and my hands in hair, even if it was a mannequin.

I also took an It Factor blowout class with the other ladies and learned several new tactics to give my clients a great blow-out, and how to teach them  up-keep for themselves.

Johnny B’s men’s clipper cutting class taught me all about the INs and OUTs of  clipper cuts. I learned how to give fades, and transisiton from clippers to scissors to achieve an overall cohesive look.

I’m so happy I got to have this opportunity, and would go back 1000 times over!”
